CEC to appeal to President for repeated elections in some constituencies

After completion of the electoral process and approval of the parliamentary elections results by the Constiuition Court (CC), the appeal to the Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Aliyev in regard to holding repeated elections at Sumgayit city constituency N42, Binagadi second N9 may be made, a member of the Central Election Committee (CEC) of Azerbaijan Enver Aliyev told Trend.

He said, after accomplishment of investigations by CEC the results will be submitted to the Constitution Court. The court will examine the elections’ results during 20 days and will
take relevant rulings. During this procedure the decisions taken by CEC may be cancelled. According to the country’s legislation the Constitution Court, as the latest instance, may leave in force the CEC decision on cancellation of results of any constituency or cancel the approved results of any constituency.

Aliyev said, after the rulings by CC, CEC will appeal to the President on holding repeated elections at the constituencies, which results have been cancelled. At the repeated elections, like at the previous ones, similar procedures will be applied. Any person, including previous candidates may nominate themselves from this constituency.
