“The recommendations of the General Assembly of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (PABSEC) on opening of the Kars (Turkey) -Gumry (Armenia) railway line is invalid,” MP Shaitdin Aliyev, the chairman of the PABSC Committee, told Trend. He was commenting the reports spread by the Armenian media on the decision concerning opening of the line made in the session of the General Assembly in Tiran.

According to Aliyeva, the issue was raised at the last Chisinau meeting of the PABSEC Committee on economic issues, but there was no information about on any recommendations and decisions made by the Committee in the report and recommendations presented to Azerbaijan. The Committee is led by Turkish MP Ali Timur, who did not allow adoption of such recommendations.

Aliyev said that the Armenian delegation seized the opportunity and achieved adoption of the invalid recommendations, as the final decision must be made by the BSEC Committee of Ministers. “I don’t think that Turkey will agree for cooperation with Armenia, as Istanbul repeatedly stated that it will not restore the economic cooperation with Yerevan till liberation of the Azerbaijani territories,” he stressed.

Aliyev also expressed pity for absence of the Azerbaijani delegation at the General Assembly. According to Aliyev, it was related to termination of the current parliament.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs intends to study the issue,” Mahmud Mammad-Guliyev, the Deputy Foreign Minister said.
