Foreign Ministry to invite int’l observers to parliamentary elections

The Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry will invite observers for monitoring the repeated parliamentary elections scheduled for 13 May 2006, Rovzat Gasimov, the head of the Foreign Relationships Department of the Central Elections Commission (CEC), told Trend.

Along with the Foreign Ministry, the CEC can also invite the foreign observers. The issue will be discussed at a meeting of the CEC scheduled for Thursday.

Official of the CEC noted that the observation institution during the repeated parliamentary elections on 10 constituencies will act as in the previous elections. The local and foreign observers will first pass registration to conduct monitoring on the elections day. For the time the Foreign Ministry has not received information on the international organizations and foreign countries which will be invited to elections.
