The European Commission is considering a project Nabucco, as an alternative route for natural gas delivery to Europe, the Turkish media reports.

The last meeting of the European Commission underlined the necessity of development of new strategies in the spheres of energy resources.

Meanwhile, the European countries set up discussions over alternative export channels of energy resources, one of which is Nabucco project designed for natural gas delivery from the Caspian region and Near East amid the results of the Russian-Ukrainian gas crisis.

The key attention is paid the necessity of completion of the construction of a gas pipeline running from Erzerum (Turkey) to Balkans by 2010, which will enable to diminish EUs energy dependence on Russia. After the gas pipeline will run to Austria via Romania and Hungary.

Earlier the construction of the Nabucco gas pipeline was scheduled for 2010-2020. The gas pipeline envisages gas delivery TO Europe from Azerbaijan, Iran, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Egypt and Syria.
