The Council of Europe (CE) made a decision to monitor the by-elections in Azerbaijan on 13 May 2006 in 10 constituencies, Trend reports citing the Azadlig radio.
The visit of Leo Plattvoed together with the CE rapporteurs for Azerbaijan Andreas Gross and Andres Herkel to Baku is expected in February.
It should be reminded initially the visit was scheduled for January. Plattvoed explained the reason for the delay by the lack of time till the winter session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE). The second reason is that the delegation is willing to visit Baku together with the PACE president Rene van der Linden.
