Aliyev convenes an alternative extraordinary conference

Ali Aliyev, whose authorities as the chairman of the Azerbaijan National Independence Party (ANIP) have been ceased, called an extraordinary conference on 21 January, Aliyev told Trend.

Aliyev underlined that in compliance with the Charter of the party the chairman holds an authority of convening a conference. So it will be a legal and legitimate conference, he added.

Meanwhile, members of the ANIP headed by the party leader Etibar Mammadov announced on the decision to convene a conference on 22 January. The Central Board of the party took a decision on the organization of the conference. The conference will focus on the disagreements with in the party and consider the issue on maintaining Aliyev in the post of party chairman.

In a conference to be convened on 21 January Aliyev will form elected bodies of ANIP, hold repeated elections to the post of secretary general and others.
