Heikki Talvitie, the European Unions special representative for South Caucasus, arrived in Baku on Thursday, the German embassy in Baku told Trend.
During the two-day visit he will hold talks with the Azerbaijani leadership with major accent on expansion of cooperation between the EU and Azerbaijan. The issues to be discussed are the implementation of the EUs New Neighborhood Policy, the resolution of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and the EUs further role in the process.
The tour of the South Caucasus comes as Talvities last visit as the EU special representative. Prior to Azerbaijan he visited Georgia.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan said that on Thursday morning Talvitie was to meet with the Azerbaijani FM, Elmar Mammadyarov.
