The stir of some Azerbaijan media around the mandate approval of the parliamentary mission at the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) is not adequate, a member of the Azerbaijan parliamentary delegation to PACE, a Milli Mejlis deputy Ganira Pashayeva told Trend.

According to her, under the PACE procedure, annually at the January session mandates of the member states delegations are approved. В"Naturally, after the parliamentary votes in the country the issue of the mandate approval of the new parliamentary mission of Azerbaijan was included. It is a usual matter. It must not be demonstrated to the public as sudden debating of the issue on the Azerbaijan mandate at PACE, Pashayeva added.

She reminded, at the same time, some oppositional parties of Azerbaijan applied to

PACE not to approve the mandate of the mission. В"Some European deputies also came out with the proposals to approve the mandate but to deprive of the vote before the results of the by-elections in May in 10 constituencies are announced. But there were not many of those who made such proposals and there were some serious objections to it. Deputies from the United Kingdom, Turkey and some other states backed the Azerbaijani side, Pashayeva noted. According to her, the issue put on the agenda of the PACE Monitoring Committee was supported in favor of Azerbaijan by the majority of votes and was approved at the Assembly by the majority votes. Along with this, more democratic and fair elections were recommended to be held at the by-elections to the Parliament. Representatives of the Azerbaijan delegation stated on the resoluteness of the countrys leadership to hold more democratic and fair elections, Pashayeva stressed.
