Arif Rahimzade, the chairman of the Milli Majlis (Parlament) Permanent Commission on regional issues, was elected the head of the Pernament Commission on social policy and human rights at the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly (IA), Aydin Jafarov, the Azerbaijani delegate at the CIS IA, told Trend.
The next meeting of the CIS IA was held in St. Petersburg on Thursday.
The participants of the meeting discussed the project on establishment of the International institute on monitoring of democratic development at the CIS Secretariat, strengthening of interparliamentary ties, legislative ensuring of social defense of the people suffered as a result of the accident at the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Station and the state program on diabetes.
The next meeting of the CIS IA will be staged in Chishinau in March. The organiztaion includes 10 commissions led by the representatives of CIS IA member-countries.
