Various attempts of veiling under the name of fighting for freedom of conscience are made today in Azerbaijan: Zakir Garalov

Various attempts are made today in Azerbaijan to veil under the name of fighting for freedom of confession, the Azerbaijans Prosecutor General Zakir Garalov has said during his meeting with the UN special rapporteur on freedom of religion or belief Asma Jahangir being in Baku on a working visit, the Prosecutor Generals Office told Trend.

The Prosecutor General informed the guest that a new strategic line in the field of relations between the state and religions based on international norms and long-standing traditions of developed civilized states is successfully going on in Azerbaijan. For the last years all required conditions are established in our country, which is adherent to the religious and ethnical tolerance traditions, for performing confessional rites by all religious congregations freely.

Garalov informed also the guest of the work carried out in Azerbaijan aimed at staging the fight against terrorism, which is the most dangerous manifestation of the organized crime. He noted dissemination of ideas of unlawfulness, radical vakhkhabizm, separatism and extremism which are not agreeing with the official charity status are prevented now. The state registration of some international institutions of that kind which operated in Baku has been cancelled, some of their employees have been removed outside our country and their arrival in our country has been averted.

Exchange of views on a number of issues of mutual interest has been held during the meeting.
