Prosecutor General's Office incompetent to clear up situation related to $300m spent by Azpetrol on unknown purposes

The Prosecutor Generals Office is incompetent to clear up the situation related to $300m, spent by Azpetrol on unknown purposes, Trend reports quoting Eldar Nuriyev, the Deputy Prosecutor General, as saying to journalists.

He stressed that under the law, the Prosecutor Office did not interfere in financial issues of any company.

Investigation of such issues is out of the authorities of prosecutor bodies. The prosecutor Office can conduct investigation only in case of appearance of facts of criminal character. In this point of view the Prosecutor Office is incompetent to clarify what purposes Azpetrol spent $300m on. In case of revealing of facts of criminal character, the Prosecutor Office is due to investigate them and determine guilty people. If it is related to the activities of the Company, the facts are due to be considered in legal order, he added.

According to Nuriyev, the criminal case, filed against Azpetrol is multi-episodic. Thus, tens of examinations, numerous confrontations and interrogations are due to be made during the investigation.

Im sure that the investigation will be unbiased fully and guilty people will be made answerable after determination, he underlined.
