INVESTMENTS IN REAL SECTOR

In January to February 2006 a total of 687.7m new manats has been invested in the Azerbaijani economy ($755.71m on average exchange rate of 0.91 AZN/USD in this period), which is 5.2% up as compared to the amount of investments put in 2005.

In this period 331.2m AZN in capital investments was put in the country ($363.69m.) with a growth pace of 9.8%.

According to the State Statistics Committee, 250.3m manats ($275.05m) has been invested at the expense of internal sources, which exceeded the figure of 2005 by 38.4%. Special weight of internal investments in the total amount of investments was 36.4%. The foreign investments comprised 437.4bn manats ($480.66m).

Major investing sources in January to February 2006 were enterprises (627.1bn AZN with a rise of 0.7%), bank credits (15.7bn manats with a rise of 3.1%), community funds (15.5m AZN with a rise of 80.1%), budget funds (20.2m manats with a rise of 3.3%).

In compliance with the decree of the Cabinet of Ministers dated 8 February 2006 it is planned to allocate 611m AZN for the implementation of construction work at the expense of the budget funds. 18.5m manats of the total has been spent over the first two months of 2006, which exceeds the investments put in the same period of 2005 4 times.
