Electoral campaign in Azerbaijan is in line with the Electoral code and high competitiveness, the CIS observation mission head-quarters told, Trend reports. The mission started its work in Baku from April 24 on the eve of May 13 rerun parliamentary elections.
218 candidatures were put forward in 10 electoral districts; 158 of them were registered, the statement said. 136 persons will continue electoral struggle after 37 candidates withdrew their names from electoral lists.
CIS mission observers held meetings with CEC leadership, visited district electoral commissions of Binagadi district #9, second Surakhani district #31 and a number of other polling stations, where they reviewed documents about formations of district and regional commissions, electoral lists preparation, appeals and complaints and other relevant to elections matters.
In general preparation to rerun elections to Milli Mejlis is carried out in calm environment and is in line with the national legislature, CIS mission noted.
