In January to April 2006 the communications enterprises provided population and economic subjects with services worth 146.5m AZN, or 23.7% more than 2005. Of them 24.6% was rendered to public enterprises, 75.4% - private companies, which rose 10.1% and 28.9% respectively. A total of 77.8% of all services was delivered to people.
Over the first 4 months of 2006 the Ministry of Communications and Information Technologies invested 6444,600 manats in the telecommunications sphere.
The Ministry said that the funds can be directed at the reconstruction of communications facilities, construction of new telecommunications facilities outskirts Baku and regions. Significant rise was observed in regions: the telecommunications services in the Absheron region rose 14.3%, Guba Khachmaz 14.3%, Shirvan 11.6%, Shaki Zakatala 32.6%, Ganja-Gazakh 22.5%, Nakhchivan - 13.2%, Lankaran 13.7%, Aran 19.4%.
In this period Aztelekom invested 1559,900 manats in the development of the communications sector, Baki Telefon Rabitasi - 3343,400 manats, Teleradio 1105,600 manats, Azerpocht - 133,600 manats.
In this period the Ministry handed in 56,196 telephone numbers. 46,412 of all numbers fell on Baki Telefon Rabitasi, and 9784 - on Aztelekom.
Over the first quarter of 2006 incomes of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technologies comprised 55.7m manats, 10.8m manats, or 24%. Incomes from community payments made up 18.6m manats. It exceeded the last year figure 2.7m manats and 16.9% manats respectively
Incomes from the mobile communications comprised 99.5m manats, or 28.6% up as compared to last year. Incomes from mobile communications comprise 67.9% of entire incomes, obtained in the communications sector.
As of 1 April, the number of mobile subscribers made up 2.5 million people, 48.5% up as compared to last year. To date the number of subscribers of Azercell Telecom in regions comprises 850,000 people. The subscribers in the region comprise 40% of the total. Ganja is the most active region, which uses Azercell services. The company has express center in some regions including Sumgayit, Guba, Shaki, Ganja, Masalli, Nakhchivan, Sabirabad, etc.
