Azeri parliamentary delegation to attend PACE summer session

On 24 June the major delegation of Azerbaijan will leave for France to participate in the summer session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) in Strasbourg on 26 June, Sabir Hajiyev, an Azerbaijani parliamentary representative to the PACE, told Trend.

Samed Seyidov, the chairman of the permanent parliamentary delegation on international relationships and interparlimantary bonds of the Milli Majlis [Azerbaijani parliament] will lead the Azerbaijani delegation at the session.

Hajiyev said that he was appointed to one of two vacancies in major composition of the delegation. Another vacancy was taken by MP Fazail Ibrahimli, elected during the 13 May re-run parliamentary elections from the Civil Solidarity Party, Hajiyev underscored

On the first day of the session will take a report by Rene Van Der Linden, the chairman of the PACE will deliver a paper, discuss referendum, held in connection with the state status of Montenegro. In the subsequent days they will discuss issues on election of judges to the European Court on Human Rights, secret prisons in the CE member-countries, rights of illegal migrants, respect religious beliefs. PACE will state its position on the CE member-countries and observers which did not cancel the capital punishment. The last day of the session will mull the adoption of the CEs frame Convention on protection of right of national minorities.

The event to last by 30 June will focus on issue concerning Azerbaijan, hear reports by the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs, Andreas Gross and Andreas Herkel.
