All candidates were provided with equal rights in municipal elections  Chairman of CEC

During the municipal elections scheduled for October 6, 2006, all candidates were provided with equal rights, Mazahir Panahov, the chairman of Central Election Commission of Azerbaijan (CEC), told at the press-conference, Trend reports.

He noted that this question is always on the focus of attention of CEC. Besides, CEC realizes enlightenment activity, publishes and disseminates instructions, document forms, propaganda materials and posters among the district election commissions.

According to Panahov, propaganda posters will be disseminated in the near future. Besides, he noted that the Congress of Local and Regional Powers of the Council of Europe will realize observation in the municipal elections. Saying that CEC closely cooperated with this organization in previous municipal elections, Panahov stressed that CEC has already appealed to the organization for this issue.

Local non-governmental organizations also take an interest. Besides, each person or organization may hold exit-poll, even by not appealing to CEC. Furthermore, the method of marking the fingers of voters will be used in the elections. According to the orders of Azerbaijan president dated October 26, 2005 and May 2006, the ink will be used during the voting process, he added.
