We have prepared a draft on alterations to the Election Code of the country and are about to submit it to the Milli Majlis (Parliament), Isa Gambar, Chairman of Musavat Party told journalists during the press-conference being held today on September 20, Trend reports.
According to him, during the preparation of the project, all the proposals of the Venice Commissions of the Council of Europe were considered. The proposals on alterations to the Election Code in some directions have also been reflected in the draft.
These proposals concerns the forming of the election committees and their ruling on the base of the principle of parity of both the ruling and opposition parties, the introduction of the mixed election system (both proportional and majority systems) to the municipal elections, the authorization of each subject of the election committees with the right of one decisive vote, etc, told Mr. Gambar.
Totally 9 proposals have been reflected in the above-mentioned draft.
The leader of the Party also brought to the notice of the journalists that the Party expects a positive answer on the permission of the meeting-rally to be held on September 23, 2006.
