On October 4, the Chairman of the Permanent Regional Commission of the Azerbaijani Parliament Arif Rahimzade met with the members of the delegation of the Congress of Local and Regional Powers of the Council of Europe, Trend reports with reference to the press-service of the Parliament.
Rahimzade informed the guests about the forthcoming 6 October repeat, additional, new and first municipal elections. He stressed that on the eve of the elections, the appropriate commissions of the Parliament and the Central Election Commission of Azerbaijan (CEC) held seminars and enlightenment work in places.
The Vice President Congress of Local and Regional Powers of the Council of Europe, the Head of the delegation Ludmila Firloag took an interest in the rights of the municipalities in Azerbaijan, conditions and legislative base developed for the local self-government.
Rahimzade mentioned the free activities of the municipalities and a legislative base has been developed to upgrade this sphere.
