Turkey Still to Confirm Its Readiness to Admit Azeri Gas - Head of BP Azerbaijan

Turkey has not confirmed its readiness to commence admission of Azerbaijani gas from Shah Deniz gas. BP Azerbaijan Present David Woodward told journalists that in accordance with the agreement in case Turkey unready to admit gas, the fuel is given to Azerbaijan.

Azerbaijan itself will resolve whether to delver this volume to Georgia or leave for the country, Woodward underlined.

According to the BP Azerbaijan President, at present the Azerbaijani national transport system is ready to admit gas from the Shah Deniz field. Georgia is not properly ready,' he stressed.

Production of the first gas from the Shah Deniz field will start shortly. Gas will be supplied to the markets of Azerbaijan, Georgia and Turkey. The fuel will be delivered to Georgia and Turkey via the South Caucasus Pipeline (SCP). BP Azerbaijan is a technical operator of SCP and operator of Shah Deniz field. Commercial operator of SCP is Statoil.
