CEC Chairman: About 10.000 Observers Observed Municipal Elections in Azerbaijan

The observers from the Council of Europe and US Embassy to Azerbaijan observed the municipal election in Azerbaijan has stated that the election process has held normally, Mazahir Panakhov, Chairman of Azerbaijan`s Central Election Committee (CEC) told during the sitting devoted to the polling process of the today`s re-run, by-election, new, and first municipal elections, Trend reports.

Mr. Panakhov pointed out that according to the data to 10 p. m., 33.53 percent of the voters have taken part in today`s polling. However, we have not received the final information from Sabirabad Constituency #63. On the whole, the election has been held at the high level, told Mr. Panakhov

CEC Chairman also pointed out tiny violations during the polling, but the candidates themselves were the reasons of these violations. At Polling Station #16 of Azizbayov Constituency #13, one of the candidates threatened the member of the election commission. But he was moved out of the polling station by policemen, told Mr. Panakhov.

CEC Chairman pointed out that about 10.000 observers have observed the elections. However, international observers have worked more actively. They stated that the election process held dramatically. During the sitting of CEC, Natig Mammadov, CEC Secretary and Svetlana Gasimova, Deputy CEC Chairman also pointed that the elections held transparently. They pointed out that no significant violation during the polling was revealed.
