Russia acted with an initiative of creating Interstate Cultural Fund within CIS (Commonwealth of Independent States), the Russian Minister of Culture and Mass Communications Alexander Sokolov briefed media on October 9 in Baku, Trend reports.
We consider that the analogue of UNESCO, Interstate Cultural Fund within CIS may serve the development of the humanitarian co-operation within Commonwealth. Russian side has prepared the project of the two-year action plan of the Fund and is ready to partially finance its activities, the Minister stressed, adding that the initiative has already been forwarded to all CIS member-countries.
According to the Minister, the creation of the Fund will provide impulse for the further expansion of the cultural and humanitarian relations between the CIS member-countries.
