If Complainer Shows Valid Reasons his/her Delayed Complaint May be Considered CEC Secretary

The period of presenting complaints about the municipal elections held on 6 October in Azerbaijan completed, the Secretary of the Central Election Commission of Azerbaijan (CEC) Natig Mammadov told Trend.

He noted that the complaints about the elections may be presented from the moment of carrying out activity, inactivity and law breaks. These complaints should be presented within 3 days. This period has come to the end, and from October 10 the complaints may not be submitted to the CEC. According go Mammadov, if the complainer shows valid reasons, then his/her delayed complaint may be considered.

After received by the CEC, the complaint should be considered within 3 days. But according to the Instruction on consideration of complaints and appeals adopted by the CEC on base of the recommendations of the Venice Commission of the Council of Europe, if necessary the CEC has the right to prolong the period of considering the complaints. According to the CEC Secretary, the consideration of the complaints received in relation with the municipal elections will be completed till the end of considering the protocols. The CEC should complete considering the result protocols no later than 20 days after voting.
