Russian Foreign Minister: A Number of Agreements on Security to Be Introduced During November's CIS Countries Summit

A number of agreements on issues concerning security and law and order are expected to be introduced during the next summit of CIS member-states to be held in Minsk in November, 2006, Sergey Lavrov, Head of the Russian Foreign Office told journalists as a result of the meeting of the Foreign Ministers of CIS countries, Trend reports referring to RBK.

According to him, an agreement on the acceptance-delivery of illegal immigrants was reached, a project of an agreement on protecting participants of criminal legal procedure was approved, and an agreement was reached on counteracting legalization of criminal income and financing terrorism. Mr. Lavrov also said during the forthcoming summit of CIS countries, a project of an agreement on co-operation in the field of raising the level of security specialist skills and professional retraining are expected to be introduced.

For his part, Sergey Martinov, Head of the Byelorussian Foreign Office stated that during the meeting of the Foreign Ministers of CIS member-states, a decision on founding the Council on inter-regional and frontier co-operation within CIS was made.
