According to the Law, repeat elections will be held in three municipalities within three months, results of which were considered to be invalid, the Chairman of the Central Election Commission of Azerbaijan (CEC), Mazahir Panahov, told Trend in an exclusive interview.

On 25 October, the CEC confirmed and signed the result protocols of the repeated, additional, new and first municipal elections held in Azerbaijan on 6 October. The results of 21 polling stations over 6 election districts were considered to be null and void. Amongst all the municipalities, this decision affected the results of only three municipalities, and the results of the elections in municipalities of Buzovna village of Azizbeyov election district No. 13, Malikler and Uzunboyat villages of Davachi-Siyazan election district No. 54 were cancelled.

Panahov stressed that according to the Law, within three months, repeat elections will be held in the three municipalities, results of which are considered invalid. In addition, he stated that the date of the elections is to be appointed only by the CEC. We will try to hold the elections within three months. 11 persons will be elected in the repeat elections in three municipalities, Panahov said.

On 25 October, the CEC made a decision to annul two commissions. The composition of the district election commissions of Azizbeyov election district No. 13 and Davachi-Siyazan election district No. 54 was cancelled for reasons of law-breaking.

Panahov stressed that in the near future the composition of these two commissions will be formed again. It will be settled very quickly as the repeat elections will be held in the same district. CEC Chairman stated.

Furthermore, Panahov pointed out that the composition of the reformed commission will include new members as former members cannot be represented again within the new commission.

The CEC Chairman remembered that amongst 603 municipalities, first elections were held in 22 municipalities, repeat elections in 141, new and repeat elections 440. The results of 600 municipalities were recognized, but elections in 3 municipalities were considered null and void.
