The Chairman of the Musavat Party, Isa Gambar, and the representatives of the party in Milli Majlis [Azerbaijani Parliament] held a press conference on 10 November. During the event, ideas were exchanged regarding the time limit in Milli Majlis for members of the party for discussions during the 2007 State budget.

Gambar stressed that 10 minutes had been allocated for the deputies' speeches, but when the deputies from Musavat Party give a speech, the time was decreased to 5 minutes. The Divan of the Musavat Party discussed this action and decided to take measures to keep the budget issue as a focus of attention, Gambar said.

The deputies from the Party brought up questions that they are unable to bring up at the Parliament.

Deputy Iltizam Akbarli stressed that it needs to increase the finances allocated from the 2007 State budget to the municipalities, to disseminate the information on construction expenditure, increase the amount of aid to the war-affected victims and families of martyrs.

According to him, Parliament does not have an opportunity to control 50% of the State budget due to the non-transparency of expenditure in several spheres.

The Deputy Arzu Samedbeyli mentioned the importance of continuing the State budget. The Deputy Panah Huseyn stated that the parliament does not have the authority to alter items of the law through voting. He mentioned the significance of preventing the facts from hindering the budget finances. Other deputies also presented their proposals and claims on the State budget.

The deputies from Musavat Party decided not to participate in the discussion of the state budget to protest against the time limit.
