The Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) Monitoring Committee Chairman, Eduard Lintner, stated that he cannot assert on full elimination of the problem of political prisoners in Azerbaijan, Trend reports.
He noted that the Committee was monitoring over the issue and was very hopeful the Government and President of Azerbaijan would carry out work to justify this situation. We have a group of specialists, who are still working over the issue. Following the appeal the Committee will try to assist these people.
Mr. Lintner stressed that the co-chairs who visited the prisons included in the draft report a large section on the situation in Azerbaijan.
