The tenth session of the High Council of opposition Azerbaijan Democratic Party (ADP) took place on 18 February 2007. The first part of the session went on with the participation of the media representatives and then behind close doors. The Chairman of the party, Rasul Guliyev, who is in exile presently, joined the session through telephone.
The event focused on three key questions вЂ" decision of the ADP High Council dated 27 January 2007 on changing the political course of the party from radicalism and beginning negotiation with the power, new decision on this question, as well as a number of organizational issues, Trend reports.
Firstly Guliyev expressed his attitude towards the statement of Azadlyg Political Block regarding the decision of ADP High Council dated 27 January 2007. He called the statement of Azadlyg Block supporting the decision of ADP High Council as absurd. They made not only a decision, but also statement and it is funny, Guliyev said. In addition, he called as illegal the ADP Organization for Preparation to ADP Congress, headed by Sardar Jalaloglu.
Up on completion of the session, the Chairman of the ADP High Council, Akif Shahbazov, briefed the media that a number of important decisions were made during the session. Particularly the decision of ADP High Council dated 27 January 2007 on changing the political course of the party was cancelled. He stressed that negotiations with other political parties and power may continue only within National Forum.
Moreover, as a result of the session, Guliyev's order dismissing Vagif Shirinov and Ramil Hajili from ADP High Council was confirmed. The session cancelled the ADP Organization for Preparation to ADP Congress, headed by Sardar Jalaloglu, and created a new relevant organization. The head of the new organization was appointed Rasul Guliyev and his deputy - A.Shahbazov.
In addition, the session made an important decision on conducting ADP extraordinary congress in April 2007.
