Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend , corr S. Aghayeva / The Ambassador of Russia to Azerbaijan Vasili Istratov stated that each country in the world has the right to consider its security in an independent way, so Russia does.
"We cannot really understand what the enlargement of NATO is linked with, and what kind of danger faces the countries joining the alliance," he said.
According to the Ambassador, taken into consideration the current situation Russia by no means is to join NATO, as the Organization provides security blanket to all the member-states and the borders of the Russian Federation are too long for NATO to undertake the responsibility for their security.
"Anyway, NATO does not have such opportunities. They are rather limited for the time being," he stressed.
