Chairman of Russian Senate Holding Meetings in Baku

Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend corr, S. Aghayeva/ Sergey Mironov, the Chairman of the Russian Senate (the upper chamber of the Russian Parliament) has began his official visit to Baku today.

During his official agenda, the Chairman of the Russian Senate visited and lay a wreath on the grave of the Azerbaijani Ex-President, Heydar Aliyev in the Alley of Honours and Alley of Martyrs, where the victims of the tragic events of 20 January, 1990 were buried.

Ogtay Asadov, Azerbaijan Parliament Speaker is presently meeting with the Russian delegation. Mr. Mironov will later meet with Arthur Rasizadeh, Azerbaijan's Prime-Minister. During the afternoon, the Chairman of the Russian Senate will visit the Baku Slavic University, where he will meet the professor and teacher staff and students of the Institute of Higher Education.

Mr. Mironov is then expected to become acquainted with the Heydar Aliyev Foundation. The Russian Speaker will meet with Azerbaijan's President, Ilham Aliyev in the evening. During his visit to Baku, Mr. Mironov, together with the Azerbaijani Speaker, will hold a press conference.

An agreement on co-operation is expected to be signed by both parties.
