France, Strasburg / corr. Trend E.Mejidly / The PACE Co-rapporteur on Azerbaijan and Deputy from Estonia, Andreas Herkel, briefed the media that he supports the positive developments with regards to the democracy and human rights in Azerbaijan.
Herkel stressed that a number of shortfalls still exist in Azerbaijan. According to him, the 2008 presidential elections in Azerbaijan will be significant in the development of democracy in Azerbaijan. He added that the report reflects on Nagorno-Karabakh. According to him, the report is a statement devised to development Azerbaijan. At the 16 April session of PACE dedicated to the obligations of Azerbaijan, Andreas Herkel positively assessed the development in the Country.
