Azerbaijan, Baku / Тrend corr E. Huseynli / Ali Ahmadov, Deputy Chairman and Executive Secretary of the New Azerbaijan Party (NAP), stated on 3 May that Azerbaijani President and the candidate of the party would undoubtedly win in the presidential elections of 2008.
Ahmadov noted that since Ilham Aliyev was elected president in 2003, the rate of development in Azerbaijan has profoundly increased. The position of Azerbaijan in world society has consolidated.
According to Ahmadov, the current political situation makes it evident that Ilham Aliyev will not have any competition in the 2008 elections. "We are confident that the candidate of the NAP will win in the elections," Ahmadov said.
The NAP has already begun the election campaign, although the elections will not be held until another half a year.
