Azerbaijan, Baku / corr. S.Agayeva / On 11 May the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, arrived in the Polish city of Krakow to participate in the energy summit attended by the State Heads of Azerbaijan, Ukraine, Georgia, Lithuanian and the Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Poland, Vilayat Guliyev, it was reported by telephone.
According to the Ambassador, the Azerbaijani President's itinerary today includes two meetings with the Presidents of summit-participating countries as well as a trilateral meeting of the Presidents of Azerbaijan, Ukraine and Georgia. A bilateral meeting with the President of Lithuanian is also planned, the Ambassador said.
The meetings will focus on actual issues of regional and bilateral co-operation, Guliyev said. An official supper on behalf of Poland's President, Lech Kacynsky, will be organized in honor of the State Heads. The Summit will commence in the afternoon of May 11 and will continue the next morning, concluding with a statement. Mr. Aliyev will leave Poland on May 12 and after that, the Azerbaijani President, together with his Georgian counterpart, Mikhail Saakashvili, will depart for the Georgian capital of Tbilisi, where both Presidents are expected to take part in the opening of the bust of the late Azerbaijani Ex-President Heydar Aliyev.
Kazakhstan's President, Noursultan Nazarbayev was also invited to participate in the forthcoming event, along with the Presidents of Azerbaijan, Ukraine, Georgia, and Lithuania. However, according to a source in the Kazakhstan Embassy to Azerbaijan, due to the official visit of the Russian President, Vladimir Putin, from 10 to 20 May, the Kazakhstan President cannot participate in the Krakow Summit.
