Azerbaijan, Baku / Тrend corr A. Gasimova / The US Civil Researches Azerbaijan, the director of the Fund, Fred Johnson, said on 17 May during a briefing in Baku.
The Fund has allotted $680,000 to implement the projects, which will cover economics, health protection, ecology, education, communication and IT. Talks with corresponding Ministries are in progress.
Formerly, CRDF allocated 52 grants involving 214 research workers to Azerbaijan. The contribution of the organization to the country totalled $2.5mln.
CRDF was established at the US Congress 12 years ago. The purpose of the organization is to work with post-soviet republics and to establish contact amongst scientists of these countries and the US. According to Johnson, amongst the Caucasus countries, the Fund mostly sympathizes with Azerbaijan and welcomes Azerbaijan's administration policy directed towards developing the non-oil sector.
