Azerbaijan, Baku / Тrend corr S. Aghayeva / Some 10,000 books by 298 Russian and world writers were presented to Azerbaijani libraries in Baku by the CIS Executive Committee on 5 June within the framework of the CIS Humanitarian Area project. Official transfer was held during a visit of the CIS Executive Secretary, Vladimir Rushaylo, to Azerbaijan. He will present the books to the Akhundov National Library.
The books will be delivered to the Presidential Library, Akhundov National Library, Korolenko Central Library, as well as to the Hikmat Library, Azerbaijani Culture and Tourism Minister, Abulfaz Garayev, said at the ceremony.
The purpose of the gift is to inform the nations residing in CIS countries of the works by Russian and world classics, as well as enrichment of library funds, Rushaylo said. All the books were published in Russian in 2007.
