Azerbaijani Opposition Party Postpones Rally

Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend cor. S.Ilhamgizi / Arif Hajili, the head of the Central Executive Administration of the Azerbaijani Musavat Party, has stated that the party does not plan to hold rally in June.

Hajili noted that the party will participate in the rally of journalists scheduled on 12 June and therefore postpone its own rally. The issue to hold rally in the coming months will be discussed.

Musavat systematically holds rallies for social economic demands.

Journalists are planning to hold a rally against the pressure on freedom of speech and arrest of journalists. A range of political parties will attend the rally.

Musavat was established in 1992. Isa Gambar, the chairman of the party, was the Speaker of the Azerbaijani Parliament from 1992-1993 and a candidate for the Presidential elections in 2003.

Five MPs represent the party in the Azerbaijani Parliament.
