Azerbaijan, Baku / corr. Trend E.Huseynly / The Head of Foreign Relations Department of the Executive Apparat of Azerbaijan President, Novruz Mammadov, said that the Russian President's proposal on the joint use of the Russian-leased Azerbaijan Gabala Radar Station with the US is being studied by US professionals.
According to Mammadov, the joint use of the station is significant for Azerbaijan. Mammadov stated that thereby Azerbaijan plays an important role in the international security and acts as a country attracting Russia and the USA into co-operation.
On the 7th of June, as a result of the meeting with US President George Bush, within the G-8 summit in Heiligendamm, Germany, Putin highlighted his proposal to jointly use the Russian-leased Azerbaijan Gabala Radar Station with the US.
