Azerbaijan, Baku / corr. Trend E.Huseynli / MP Fazail Agamali stated during the Press and Society meeting, held on 21 June that amendment in Laws on Functioning of Journalists would be passed at the autumn session of the Milli Majlis (Azerbaijani Parliament).
The Parliament should introduce amendments in a range of legislations to exclude items concerning the arrest of journalists as an offense to their honor and dignity from the Criminal Code.
The citizen liability of journalists in the Civil Code should be increased.
The MP considers that the offense to the honor and dignity of the media must be suspended.
Seven journalist are under arrest in Azerbaijan.
