Azerbaijan, Baku / Тrend corr K. Zarbaliyeva / Azerbaijani National Security Ministry withdrew 253 kg of drugs from illegal turnover during 6 months of 2007.
According to an employee of the Ministry, Ramiz Hasanov, the number of the drug-related cases made up 16. He noted that as compared to 2006 the Ministry revealed more cases related to illegal drugs turnover. So, in 2006, as a result of the preventive measures carried out by the employees of the Ministry, 12 cases were revealed and 234 kg of drugs were seized. Attraction of children and women to illegal drugs turnover by trans-national criminals is alarming. Hasanov noted the importance of instruction among the youth and teenagers of Azerbaijan in combating the problem.
