Azerbaijani Foreign Minister:   Azerbaijan Adheres to Economic Market’s Rules and International Rights’ Principles

Azerbaijan, Baku / corr. Trend A.Gasimov / Elmar Mammadyarov, the Azerbaijani Foreign Minister, stated during the second Security Forum of the Euro-Atlantic Partnership Council (EAPC) on 29 June that Azerbaijan adhered to the economic market's rules and international rights' principles, as well as accessibility recourses and energy security.

International cooperation is necessary for resolving energy problems.

" Azerbaijan's aim is to develop cooperation with the international community," the Minister said.

In his speech, the Minister spoke about Azerbaijani achievements in energy and shared the country's experience in this sphere.

"We should observe the global economic market's rules to reach stable energy production and transportation of energy resources," Mammadyarov added.

According to Mammadyarov, Azerbaijan plans to use the whole transport capacity of the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) pipeline in 2008. Negotiations with Australia on cooperation with Australian Nabucco Gas Pipeline International Project are being held.

"It will be a very important project for Azerbaijan, because Nabucco is a very interesting project for foreign gas suppliers," Mammadyarov added.

EAPC's Security Forum is an informal summit involving NATO's country-members. The key theme of the Forum is 'Assistance to Peace and Stability: Current Challenges and Solutions'.

The main focus during the forum was attached to discussions of the problem on providing stability in Afghanistan and the Balkan Mountains.
