Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend corr. K.Zarbaliyeva / Fifteen Azerbaijanis have died due to the use of psychotropic and drugs in the first quarter of 2007.
The Azerbaijani State Commission on the Struggle Against Illegal Drug Trafficking has reported that 1,506 crimes have been linked with drugs, 875 with possession of drugs, 566 with the sale of drugs and 65 with the growing of drugs were registered in the country within this period. Some 1,063 people were arrested, 2 were aged under 18, 272 were aged 19 to 30 years and 789 were above the age of 30. A total of 8 employees, 4 state personnel, 1 senior employee,998 unemployed persons, 1,045 men, 18 women, 388 previous offenders were arrested. Twenty-four foreigners were brought to trial. Ten citizens were from Iran, 10 from Georgia, 2 from Russia and 2 from Ukraine.
