Azerbaijan, Baku / Тrend corr K. Ramazanova / The OSCE's Baku office has plans to implement a project on the upcoming presidential elections in Azerbaijan, the Deputy Head of the OSCE's Baku office, Robin Sivord, told journalists on 2 August.

According to Sivord, the project will regard such actual issues as the activities of the city administration, improvement of management, fulfilment of recommendations made after the Presidential elections of 2003, and registration of the candidates.

The Deputy Head noted that a lot depended on the funds to be allocated for implementation of the project. Sivord reported that several regional OSCE offices would be opened in Azerbaijan in the near future.

"We plan to implement regional projects, such as opening of a women's centre in Lankaran and anti-corruption centres in several regions," Sivord said.

According to him, it is very important for the organization that Azerbaijan does not base its economy only on hydrocarbon resources and that other fields should be developed.
