Preparation has Begun for Iranian President’s Visit to Azerbaijan: Ambassador

Azerbaijan, Baku /corr. Trend S.Agayeva / The diplomatic missions of Azerbaijan and Iran have already begun preparing for an official visit by the President of Iran, Mahmud Ahmednejat, to Azerbaijan.

The Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Iran, Abbasali Hasanov, informed Trend from Tehran by telephone that the visit is expected to take place in August and the concrete date is being verified. Currently Azerbaijani and Iranian diplomats are working on the program for the visit and the documents that are to be signed during the visit.

The visit is the Iranian President's reciprocation to the visit of Azerbaijani President, Ilham Aliyev, to Iran in 2005.

Ahmednejat has visited Azerbaijan twice. These were working visits. Last year he participated in the summit of ECO which took place in Baku. In Nakchivan Autonomous Republic of Azerbaijan, together with Azerbaijan President Ilham Aliyev, Ahmednejat participated in the ceremony of the opening of a gas line. During the meeting in Nakchivan, Aliyev invited Iranian President to make an official visit to Azerbaijan. The invitation was accepted.
