Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend corr. I.Alizadeh / The next meeting of the Social Democratic Party of Azerbaijan (SDPA) will be held in spring-summer of 2008. The decision to participate in the presidential elections and determining a candidate will be discussed during this meeting, Araz Alizadeh, co-chairman of the left opposition SDPA, stated on 28 August.
There are plans to nominate Ayaz Mutallibov, the ex-President of Azerbaijan, in the upcoming presidential elections in Azerbaijan. Mutallibov currently lives as an immigrant in Moscow and cannot return to Azerbaijan.
If Mutallibov can return to Azerbaijan before the presidential elections his candidature will be nominated. If Mutallibov cannot return we will nominate other candidate.
The SDPA is a left wing Azerbaijani party. Ayaz Mutallibov, the former Azerbaijani President, is the head of the party.
