Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend corr. S.Agayeva / Investigations were held by the officials of the Azerbaijani Ombudsman Administration on the suicide committed by prisoner, Zahid Safarov, in the Prison 1 of the Penal Service.
Investigations revealed that Z.Safarov, 26, was sentenced to 12 years imprisonment 2003 for murdering his brother's wife. Safarov committed suicide on 9 September. This suicide is the 3rd suicide committed in the Prison 1 of the Penal Service at the Azerbaijani Justice Ministry.
The Justice Ministry refused to announce the statistics of prisoners who had committed suicide in prisons.
