Azerbaijani Federation of Sweden Hold 9th Congress
Azerbaijan, Baku /corr. Trend S.Ilhamgizi / Azerbaijani Federation of Sweden will hold its 9th congress on 13-15 October in Geteborg, the Head of the Federation, Mammadrza Agapur, reported to Trend on 24 September.
The Federation was established in 1996 to achieve national unity, solidarity of the Azerbaijanis residing in Sweden and provide information on Azerbaijan's realities to the Swedish community. The Federation supports territorial integrity of Azerbaijan and the fight of the Azerbaijanis for national rights in South Azerbaijan ( Iran).
Twenty-nine organizations function under the federation. Agapur said that the 9th congress will elect a new Executive Board and Chair of the organization. "I will again nominate my candidature for the post of chairman," he said. The congress will bring together the representatives of Turkic-speaking organization functioning in Sweden. "Our task includes providing information on problems of Azerbaijan and Armenia's occupation of the Azerbaijani land. We want to pay attention to the issue that the rights of the South Azerbaijanis are violated in Iran," he said. The Federation tries to present the Karabakh issue to the discussions of the Swedish Parliament to ensure recognition of the Karabakh realities at an official level, he said.
Agapur said that he met with the MP from the ruling party of Sweden, Gans Rotenberg and plans to meet with him in Parliament. "The meeting will take place to achieve discussions on the Karabakh issue in the Swedish Parliament to have Armenia recognized as an occupant," Agapur said.
