Several Floors of Building nearby Collapsed 16-torey Building in Baku to be Pulled Down

3 floors of a building which is located near the recently collapsed 16-storey building in 185 Murtuza Mukhtarov St. in Yasamal District of Baku, will be destroyed, Abid Sharifov, the Azerbaijani Deputy Prime Minister and the chairman of the State Commission on investigation of the construction collapse, said.

A building which was under construction by Mutefekkir company collapsed on 28 August at about 6:00 p.m. As a result four were injured and twenty five people lost their lives. The General Director of the Mutefekkir construction company, and three members of the company, as well as the directors of the Housing and Communal Economy of the Baku City Executive Power were all arrested after the incident.

Sharifov stressed on the need of inspections over the new 200 buildings in baku.

"Both local and foreign experts provided similar response in connection with the collapsed building. It is not necessary to be a specialist to see reasons of the collapse. 14-storey building was built on the foundation of the 9-storey building," he said.
