Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend corr. K.Zarbaliyeva / Azerbaijani journalists charged of insulting Islam and the Prophet Muhammad appealed to the Supreme Court. The appeal by S Amir Sadatoglu, the editor-in-chief of the newspaper Sanat, sentenced to four years in prison at the ruling of Sabail District Court, and Rafik Tagi, a journalist, sentenced to three years in prison, will be considered on 13 November under the chairmanship of Judge Muzaffar Agazadeh. Sadatoglu and Tagi were arrested in compliance with the Article 283 of the Criminal Code of Azerbaijan in November 2006.
Sadatoglu and Tagi were charged with writing the ' Europe and Us' article, which insulted Islam and the Prophet Muhammad.
