Azerbaijan, Baku / corr Trend V.Mammadov / A total of 64.5% of men are smokers in Ganja, which is in 365km west of Azerbaijan. It was stated in a roundtable organized at the Scientific Research Institute of Pulmonary Diseases jointly with Health Department of Ganja City, in Ganja on 23 October.
The Institute held inquiry among 1,600 people, 64.5% of men and 0.6% of women turned out smokers.. According to respondents, 15 - 34 years, they smoke 10-40 cigarettes a day.
As of results of inquiry in the republic, 60% of men and 20% of women are smokers in Azerbaijan. The figure fell by 18% and 9.4% respectively as compared to 1991.
