Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend corr. K. Ramazanova / Americans regard education as the basis for democracy and development of the statehood, Anne E. Derse, the US ambassador to Azerbaijan, said during the opening ceremony of the new secondary school 323 in Yeni Gala village of Baku, Azerbaijan.
According to the Ambassador, the construction of new schools by the US Government is an investment into the future of Azerbaijani children.
The US embassy opened the 13th school in Azerbaijan on 24 October. The construction of the new secondary school 323 in Yeni Gala village of Baku City was financed by the US Military Command in Europe and carried out by the US Embassy department on cooperation in defense. The school is designed to accommodate about 200 children.
The United States is also planning on constructing a new school for internally displaced children (IDPs) from Azerbaijan's occupied district of Lachin.
The construction of the school in the village of 500 families is an important step, Misir Mardanov, the Azerbaijani Minister of Education, said.
"All these projects strengthen the relations between Azerbaijan and the United States," the Minister said.
