Vacancy Exams for Notary Offices in Azerbaijan

Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend corr. K. Zarbaliyeva / Vacancy exams for notary bodies will be held it is planned for the third part of December 2007, the Azerbaijani Justice Ministry reported.

Some 527 people have submitted applications between 7 May and 10 August.

The Azerbaijani legislation envisages the functioning of 149 notary-support and 136 notary offices.

Any Azerbaijani citizen willing to work as a state or private notary must have a higher juridical education, as well as possess necessary ethical qualities and professional skills.

Candidates who collect more than fifty points will pass six months trainings, and then an interview. Newly-accepted applicants have to pay AZM 50 in order to receive their certificate.

Some 136 notary offices are functioning in the country.

It is planned that more offices will be opened in big cities throughout the country. Mehman Soltanov, the head of the Central Notary and Regional Department, said permission for opening private notaries would be given step by step.
